Beautiful Savior Early Learning Center

PURPOSE OF BEAUTIFUL SAVIOR LUTHERAN EARLY LEARNING CENTER

As an agency of Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church, the purpose of Beautiful Savior Lutheran Early Learning Center is to provide developmentally and age appropriate classrooms in a Christian environment.

Our purpose is to provide a Christian Early Learning Center, including preschool, pre-kindergarten, and before and after school care for the children in our school programs, for the congregation and community. These programs will provide opportunities for children to grow spiritually, intellectually, socially, emotionally, and physically. We follow God's directive in educating children, "Train up a child in every way he should go; and when he is old, he will not depart from it" (Proverbs 22:6) "and ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath; but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord." (Ephesians 6:14) The Early Learning Center is an integral part of the church, and is given to teach the truth of salvation - Christ's suffering, death, and resurrection for us are the basis of all we think, say, and do.

PHILOSOPHY OF THE EARLY LEARNING CENTER

At Beautiful Savior Lutheran Early Learning Center it is believed that:

- Early childhood education is an integral part of a congregational Christ centered mission and ministry.

- Faith development, through the power of the Holy Spirit; is the chief aim of the center.

- Learning about, and worshiping, God is the focal point of the educational process.

- The young child is a gift from God (Ps. 127:3) and teams best about God's world from God's word through experimentation and exploration. Therefore the early learning program plans developmentally appropriate activities and values play as an avenue for Christian learning.

- The uniqueness of Beautiful Savior is due, to a great degree, to its dedicated, Christian teaching staff which has been trained in providing Christian age and developmentally appropriate experiences and setting a positive example for students and parents.

- It is important that the center strive to develop all aspects of its students, including their spiritual, intellectual, social, emotional, and physical characteristics.

- In addition, it is important that the center recognize, and provide for, differences in the capabilities of individuals.

ORGANIZATION

The Pastor, Director, Teachers and all other staff members at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Early Learning Center are dedicated to the life and service of Jesus Christ. Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church has established two lay groups which are to consider the entire school operation including the Early Learning Center. The Board of Christian Education, (which meets once a month), serves as the governing body of the Early Learning Center. The Voters Assembly of Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church oversees the operation of all church agencies and, as such, indirectly oversees the operation of the Early Learning Center.

The Director is the chief administrator of Beautiful Savior Lutheran Early Learning Center. As such, she works closely with the Board of Christian Education and the Pastor(s) to fulfill our commitment to Christian education as it relates to the total ministry of the Word of God.

The teachers at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Early Learning Center are hired after a search process that generally involves candidates submitted by members of the church and/or school families as well as those recommended by the District Office of the Rocky Mountain District of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod. Teachers are, preferably, synodically trained, that is, trained at colleges of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod. Teachers who are not synodically trained may be hired provided their beliefs and philosophy agree with those upon which the school was founded by Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church's Congregation. Teachers who are synodically trained are eligible to receive a Divine Call to serve our Heavenly Father in the role of Teacher at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Early Learning Center.
